Our chief executive officer, and lead principal investigator is Doctor Nyda Fourie. Dr Fourie obtained an MBChB degree from the University of the Free State (UFS) in 1988. She received a master’s degree in Family Medicine cum laude in 1992, also from the UFS. She was part of the Department of Pharmacology, UFS, from 1994 to 2000. She started as Clinical Pharmacologist and lecturer, and later worked as Senior Clinical Pharmacologist.
Dr Fourie is a co-founder of a private drug and toxicology consultation service, established in 2001. This 24-hour service provides specialist support to subscribing medical practitioners and hospitals, throughout South Africa. In rendering this consultation service for many years, considerable expertise in Clinical Pharmacology was gained, and a substantial liaison network with medical specialists and general practitioners was established. In 2004 Dr Fourie became involved in clinical research. She has since gained vast experience as principal investigator in the conduction of phase II to IV clinical trials and the successful management of a research unit. She is a founding member of the Iatros International Clinical Research Unit and was appointed as CEO of the Company in early 2019. Through her dedication, expertise in Clinical Pharmacology and an extended liaison network established, Dr Fourie has already made a notable contribution within the field of contract research.
